Best Time to Trade on Hyperliquid: Hours & Days (2026)
Hyperliquid volume and volatility by hour and day from real candle data: 13:00-16:59 UTC carried 28.5% of BTC volume. Slippage, stops, funding and a Python script.
The short version: Hyperliquid trades 24/7, but activity is far from even. In the four weeks from 4 October to 1 November 2026 (672 hourly candles, pulled 1 November 08:04 UTC), the four hours from 13:00 to 16:59 UTC carried 28.5% of BTC perp volume although they are only 17% of the day. The busiest hour was 14:00 UTC (8.5% of volume, median hourly range 0.80%); the quietest was 06:00 UTC (2.1%, 0.34%). Thursday was the busiest day every single week, and Saturday averaged about a quarter of Thursday's hourly volume ($47.1M vs $168.0M for BTC).
"What is the best time to trade crypto?" is a question with no universal answer, but it does have a measurable one for a given exchange and period. This guide uses Hyperliquid's own public candle data to show when volume and price movement concentrate, what that means for slippage, stops and funding, and gives you a short Python script to rerun the numbers whenever you want. Everything here is descriptive: the data shows when the market is active, not when it will go up.
How we measured it
- Source: the public
candleSnapshotendpoint ofapi.hyperliquid.xyz/info, 1-hour candles, no account or API key. - Window: 28 full days, from 4 October 2026 08:00 UTC to 1 November 2026 07:59 UTC, so each weekday appears exactly four times.
- Coins: BTC, ETH, HYPE and SOL perpetuals on the main Hyperliquid DEX.
- Volume: candle base volume multiplied by the close, an approximation of USD notional.
- Volatility: each hour's high minus low divided by its open (the hourly range). We use the median, so one crash candle does not dominate.
- Time zone: everything is in UTC. During the window the New York stock market opened at 13:30 UTC; after US clocks changed on 1 November 2026 it opens at 14:30 UTC, so expect the peak to shift about an hour later in winter.
Volume and volatility by hour (UTC)
Share of 28-day volume traded in each hour, and the median high-low range of that hour:

Even-numbered hours plus the 13:00 and 15:00 peak hours are shown; the script prints all 24. Three patterns stand out:
- The US session is the main event. Volume and range climb from 12:00 UTC, peak between 13:00 and 15:59 UTC and fade after 17:00 UTC. ETH's median range at 14:00 UTC (1.04%) was more than double its 04:00 UTC range (0.39%). SOL followed the same shape, with a 1.27% median range at 14:00 UTC.
- Early Asia has a smaller bump. 01:00 to 02:59 UTC is a secondary peak (BTC 4.9% and 5.1% of volume, range around 0.46% to 0.52%).
- 04:00 to 11:00 UTC is the quiet stretch. For BTC, each of those eight hours carried between 2.1% and 3.4% of daily volume. The European morning on Hyperliquid is noticeably calmer than the US afternoon.
Volume and volatility by day of week
| Day | BTC avg hourly volume | BTC median range | ETH avg hourly volume | HYPE avg hourly volume | HYPE median range |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | $98.1M | 0.46% | $38.6M | $19.5M | 0.95% |
| Tuesday | $94.1M | 0.41% | $38.8M | $15.7M | 0.85% |
| Wednesday | $106.5M | 0.42% | $44.5M | $17.8M | 0.97% |
| Thursday | $168.0M | 0.52% | $75.9M | $45.6M | 1.03% |
| Friday | $123.2M | 0.50% | $42.2M | $20.5M | 1.03% |
| Saturday | $47.1M | 0.21% | $27.3M | $14.1M | 0.63% |
| Sunday | $58.8M | 0.27% | $31.5M | $9.3M | 0.62% |
Was Thursday just one wild session? No: BTC traded about $3.63B, $4.32B, $3.53B and $4.65B on the four Thursdays (8, 15, 22 and 29 October), the highest day of the week in each of the four weeks. Four weeks is still a short sample, so treat the Thursday effect as a pattern of this period, not a law. The weekend drop is more robust and well known across crypto: BTC's median hourly range on Saturday (0.21%) was less than half Thursday's.
What this means for your trading
Slippage and order size
More volume usually means deeper books and less price impact. If you need to move a large market order, the 13:00 to 16:59 UTC window offers the most liquidity, but also the fastest moves. For size in quiet hours or on weekends, split it with a TWAP order or use limit orders.
Stops and position size
A stop that is comfortable at 06:00 UTC can be hit by normal noise at 14:00 UTC, when BTC's typical hourly range is more than twice as wide. Size stops with the ATR of the session you trade, then size the position from that stop with the position size calculator. Weekend calm also does not mean weekend safety: thin books can make a sudden move travel further, so keep liquidation distance in mind.
Funding has no "safe" hour
On many centralized exchanges funding is paid every 8 hours, so traders time entries around the settlement. Hyperliquid charges funding every hour, so there is no settlement to dodge: holding a position for any hour costs or pays that hour's rate.
Your own best hours
The market's busiest hours are not automatically your best ones. Many traders find they lose money in the hours they trade tired or out of habit. Export your fills (how to export your history), group closed PnL by UTC hour and weekday, and compare it with your win rate and profit factor. That tells you when you trade well.
Python script: rerun the numbers

Common mistakes
- Mixing time zones. Exchange data is in UTC. Convert to your local time once and remember daylight saving changes.
- Confusing activity with direction. A busy hour is not a bullish or bearish hour. These stats tell you when moves are larger, not which way they go.
- Using averages for volatility. A single liquidation cascade can inflate an average range. Medians are a better picture of a normal hour.
- Trusting a short sample forever. Patterns shift with macro calendars, daylight saving and new listings. Rerun the script monthly.

FAQ
What is the best time to trade on Hyperliquid?
For liquidity and movement, the US session: in our 4 October to 1 November 2026 sample, 13:00 to 16:59 UTC carried 28.5% of BTC perp volume. For calmer conditions, 04:00 to 11:00 UTC and weekends were the quietest.
Is Hyperliquid open on weekends?
Yes, crypto perps trade 24/7. Weekend volume is much lower: BTC averaged $47.1M per hour on Saturdays against $168.0M on Thursdays in our sample.
What is the busiest day of the week on Hyperliquid?
In October 2026 it was Thursday: BTC's highest-volume day in each of the four weeks measured, and the day with the highest average hourly volume for ETH, HYPE and SOL too. Treat it as a recent pattern and recheck it with the script.
Does the time of day affect funding on Hyperliquid?
Not by schedule: funding is paid every hour, so there is no settlement time to avoid. The rate itself changes with market conditions.
Is lower volatility better for beginners?
Quieter hours produce smaller moves, which makes it easier to think, but thinner books can still gap. Use small size, a stop and modest leverage at any hour.
Does this apply to HIP-3 and TradFi perps?
Not necessarily. Perps that track stocks or commodities can be driven by their underlying market's hours. Run the script on those coins separately.
