The short answer

Hyperliquid records your closed positions under the Activity tab, but the official interface only keeps a limited window of realized PnL and never breaks it down by trading fees, funding payments, or win rate. To review your full realized performance, paste any wallet address into Hyperfolio's free read-only tracker and see every closed position, net of fees and funding, in seconds — no sign-up, no API keys.

What "closed PnL" actually means on Hyperliquid

On a perpetuals DEX like Hyperliquid, your PnL comes in two flavours. Unrealized PnL is the mark-to-market profit or loss on positions you still hold open — it changes with every tick of the mark price. Closed PnL (also called realized PnL) is the profit or loss you lock in the moment you close a position. That is the number that actually matters for your bottom line: it is the only PnL that can be withdrawn, spent, or reported for tax.

Here is the trap most traders hit: your account equity is not your profit. Equity includes deposits, withdrawals, and unrealized swings. If you deposited 5,000 USDC, won 2,000 and lost 1,500 across a month of scalping, your equity moved — but your realized PnL for that period is only +500 USDC net of fees and funding. Without a clean closed-PnL view you are guessing at your own performance.

Where to find closed PnL in the official Hyperliquid app

The official app at app.hyperliquid.xyz does show your closed positions. Open the Portfolio page and look at the Activity or Closed PnL section: it lists your recently closed positions with their realized result. You can also export a CSV that contains fills, funding payments, deposits, and withdrawals.

  • Open positions — visible in real time with entry, mark price, unrealized PnL, leverage and liquidation price.
  • Closed positions — listed in Activity, but only for a recent window.
  • CSV export — the raw material for tax tools, but not a readable performance dashboard.

Why the official closed PnL view falls short

For a casual trader the built-in view is fine. For anyone who trades size, runs bots, or files taxes, three gaps hurt:

Limited history

The interface keeps only a recent slice of your closed positions. Want to review last quarter, or the whole year? The data you need is either gone from the UI or scattered across paginated CSV exports.

No fees and funding breakdown

Hyperliquid charges 0.045% taker / 0.015% maker on perps and 0.070% taker / 0.040% maker on spot, plus an hourly funding rate that can quietly eat a position held overnight. The official closed-PnL figure does not isolate how much of your "profit" went to fees and funding — and those costs are the difference between a winning strategy and a losing one.

No win rate or per-asset analytics

You cannot see your win rate, average win vs average loss, or your best and worst assets from the native view. Without those, you cannot tell whether you are improving or bleeding out slowly.

Takeaway: the official app tells you what you closed recently; it does not tell you how well you are actually trading net of costs.

How to review your full closed PnL — the read-only way

The fastest fix is a read-only tracker that reconstructs your full closed-PnL history from the blockchain. Open app.hyperfolio.fun, paste any Hyperliquid wallet address, and you get a complete performance view in seconds:

  • Full closed PnL — every position you have ever closed, not just the recent window.
  • Fees and funding separated — see exactly how much you paid to trade, per position and in total.
  • Win rate and per-asset breakdown — your strike rate, average winner vs loser, and best/worst markets.
  • Read-only, no keys, no sign-up — paste a public address and view; you never expose a private key or connect a wallet.

This is also how traders audit other wallets before copy-trading: if you want to know whether a "smart money" address is genuinely profitable, its closed PnL — not its open unrealized position — is the number to check. You can even track any wallet you don't own.

How to calculate your realized PnL correctly

If you want the exact number by hand, the realized PnL of a closed position is the exit proceeds minus entry cost, minus all trading fees, minus any funding paid (or plus any funding received) over the life of the position.

The formula

Realized PnL = (exit price − entry price) × position size × direction − taker/maker fees − funding paid + funding received

For a long, direction is +1; for a short, −1. On a 10,000 USDC long that moves 5% in your favour, gross profit is 500 USDC — but a 0.045% taker fee on entry and exit (about 9 USDC) plus a few hourly funding payments can easily shave tens of dollars off that number on a position held for days.

Where fees and funding hide

Hyperliquid's fees and funding are applied continuously, so they rarely appear as a single clean line. Funding is charged hourly on the notional of your position, and its sign flips with market sentiment. A position that is profitable on price alone can still be a net loss once overnight funding is counted — which is exactly why a tracker that separates these costs matters.

Where the official app is still enough

To be fair, you don't need a third-party tracker for everything. The official app is still the right place to execute trades, set TP/SL orders, manage margin, and watch live mark prices. Its native closed-PnL view is fine for a quick glance at your last few exits. The moment you need history, cost breakdowns, or win-rate analytics — or you want to audit another wallet — a read-only tracker like Hyperfolio fills the gap without replacing the official app. The two work side by side: trade on Hyperliquid, review on Hyperfolio.

FAQ

How do I see my closed PnL on Hyperliquid?

Open the Portfolio page in the official app and check the Activity or Closed PnL section for your recent closed positions, or export the CSV from the same page for the raw fills and funding data.

What is the difference between realized and unrealized PnL?

Unrealized PnL is the live mark-to-market result of open positions; realized (closed) PnL is the profit or loss locked in when you close. Only realized PnL affects your withdrawable balance and taxes.

Does Hyperliquid's closed PnL include fees and funding?

The official view shows your net closed result but does not cleanly separate fees and funding from raw price PnL. A dedicated tracker breaks those costs out per position.

Can I track a Hyperliquid wallet without connecting it?

Yes. Because Hyperliquid is a public blockchain, any read-only tracker can reconstruct a wallet's full closed PnL from a public address — no private keys, API keys, or sign-up required.

How do I check if another trader's PnL is real?

Look at their closed PnL and win rate, not their open unrealized position. Paste the wallet into a read-only tracker like Hyperfolio to verify genuine net performance after fees and funding.
